TEAM Group (Aust)  is pleased to announce they are Recognised Service Facility in QLD. They have achieved MP87.2 Certification for the overhaul and repair of electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres.

MP87.2 is an Australian/New Zealand Certification Scheme for explosion-protected electrical equipment. In achieving MP87.2, TEAM Group (Aust) has demonstrated that their service facility has the management processes, competencies and management systems necessary to safely overhaul, repair or modify Ex d – Group I and II for flameproof enclosures (excluding rotating machines), including electrical equipment installed within the enclosures rated up to 11 kV. In achieving MP87.2 Certification, TEAM Group (Aust) has demonstrated their commitment to continuous improvement, safety and providing their clients with outstanding service.

The assessment covered compliance with the MP87.2, including AS3800 and AS2290.

On Friday night TEAM Group (Aust) successfully won the 2016 Australian Mining Prospect Awards - Excellence in Mine Safety - OH& S for our Stacker and Reclaimer Project at Grosvenor Mine for Anglo American.

What did we do to win the award?

​

TEAM recently completed the erection of two stackers and two reclaimers at Anglo American’s new Grosvenor Mine near Moranbah, Bowen Basin in Central Queensland. The works were completed between September 2014 and April 2016 with a total of approximately 300,000 man hours onsite and offsite works with no Lost Time Injuries for any of our employees or subcontractors.

The project involved the unloading, transporting, reloading and unloading of heavy components and “Oversize Transport Loads”. The total weight of the four machines was 3,130 Tonnes. The components varied in size from Bridge Reclaimer - 950T, Portal Reclaimer – 980T, 2 x Luffing and Slewing Stackers – 600T each to smaller componentary.

In the course of the project there were over 670 major crane lifts, each one posing a challenge to the safety of personnel and the equipment involved. We had to be satisfied that each lift was conducted in the safest possible manner due to the close proximity to other workers while at the same time not adversely impacting the productivity of the project.

In conjunction with the client we developed an innovative approach to use 3D modelling and animation for our lifts. We used these models and regular meetings with all the stakeholders involved - from the client down to the operators so that everyone involved had ownership of the outcome, knew in advance what was planned and what was expected of them and everyone was thinking safety first.

TEAM Group have tonight been named the Queensland Mining Contractors of the Year at a gala celebration in honour of the Queensland resources sector’s hard-working contractors.
Mackay-based TEAM Group, founded in 1989, were named as a finalist in two categories of the Queensland Mining Contractor Awards, for their innovation across multiple aspects of a stacker and reclaimer erection contract for Anglo American’s Grosvenor Mine.
In the winning project, TEAM’s innovative girder transport saved Grosvenor an estimated $400,000, and their clever frame lift solution achieved cost saving in the form of a quicker delivery and reduced downtime.
Judges said that TEAM Group’s focus on both innovation and cost-saving embodied the spirit of outstanding Bowen Basin contractors, making them a stand-out entry for the top prize.
